I was blessed to have spent my weekend with good friends, good food, and beautiful weather.
Friday evening David and I met up with our good friends Mal and Corey in downtown DM for dinner and drinks. We had a great time and met up with more friends throughout the night.
Saturday got off to a great start by SLEEPING IN. Rather than enjoying the beautiful weather, I eventually got up and went to the mall to buy summer sandals. Louie and I then ventured to the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden in downtown DM. Louie did not enjoy the sculptures as much as I did. He showed his distaste by leaving his mark near many of the sculptures. Eventually, he grew tired and was ready to leave. We finished our outing with a stop at Snookies for ice cream. Louie made a scene when a golden lab invaded the line for treats next to us. We left soon afterwards. :-)
That night, I ate at Jethro's in the Drake neighborhood for the first time. It was delicious! I then met up with more friends that night out on the town.
On Sunday, David and I met my parents and Cali in Omaha for a day trip to the zoo. The place was packed around noon so we went out for lunch, visited the Bass Pro Shop (dad's pick) and tried the zoo later in the afternoon. Best part about the zoo? The baby gorilla (so cute!) and the cats-lions, tigers, pumas, jaguars, etc. Tried to leave Cali but they wouldn't take her.
Monday consisted of taking Louie for a walk around Gray's Lake. What a gorgeous day! Families were paddle boating, picnicking, and biking. David wanted to get back to watch a baseball game, which meant I took nap. TV baseball always puts me to sleep.
That evening we met up with friends for boating on Saylorville Lake. It was my first time on the lake-us NWesterners usually stick to Okoboji so it was fun to see/do something new.
Overall, it was a fantastic weekend and hard to get back into the swing of the work week. The upside? It's already Tuesday :-)
